Organizational structure

The KURCA was launched in April 2015 as a school-wide functional organization to operate research institutes through collaboration and support their coordination. The organization is led by 1 Director and 2 Deputy Directors, and consists of the following sub-organizations: Alliance Operation Committee, Coordination Office for Collaborated Study, Planning Office for Support of Next-Generation Researchers, and Alliance Evaluation Committee. Among these, the Coordination Office for Collaborated Study and Planning Office for Support of Next-Generation Researchers plan and operate the actual activities of the KURCA.

Alliance Operation Committee

A committee, functioning as a decision-making body for the KURCA and made up of members, including the Director, Deputy Directors, and department chiefs of each research; it consists of the Coordination Office for Collaborated Study and Planning Office for Support of Next-Generation Researchers as its sub-committees.

Coordination Office for Collaborated Study

among research institutes, with the Deputy Director as its general manager; it also provides a base for the organization and operation of the Research Units Exploring Future Horizons, and supports the establishment of centers and research institutes, based on the outcomes achieved by these units.

Planning Office for Support of Next-Generation Researchers

An office performing activities related to human resource development using the know-how of each research institute, with the Deputy Director as its general manager; it plans the KUIC Symposiums and Marunouchi Seminars in Tokyo.

Alliance Evaluation Committee

The committee consists of external experts and faculty members of graduate schools within Kyoto University.Its roles is to evaluate the activities related to the management and research collaboration by KURCA and also research activities by the Research Units for Exploring Future Horizons.
